Jiffy Lube® Wants You to Keep Cool

Is your vehicle acting up in extreme temperatures – steaming from the hood in the summer and the engine freezing up in the winter?

Cooling system fluid performs double duty in your engine. Known as coolant in the summer, it functions to keep your vehicle from overheating. In the winter it is known as antifreeze, and you guessed it, this fluid prevents freezing and seizing of the engine.

 Cooling-System-Flush-and-FillCooling System Flush and Fill

An antifreeze/coolant flush and fill at regular intervals can help prevent overheating, freezing and premature cooling-system corrosion.

A Jiffy Lube® coolant service starts with an examination of your radiator and engine cooling system. Then, old antifreeze/coolant is removed from your radiator and replaced with new antifreeze/coolant per your vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations.

Coolant-Inspection-and-Strength-TestCoolant Inspection and Strength Test

Strength and volume of your coolant is vital for it to perform its function in your vehicle. Jiffy Lube® technicians are expertly trained to check your coolant level and test the strength of your coolant. All cars and light trucks require at least a 50/50 mixture of antifreeze and water for adequate freezing, boiling and corrosion protection.

Increasing the concentration of antifreeze in the coolant can provide added freezing protection in really cold climates, but the maximum mix of antifreeze is 70%. When hot weather returns, the coolant should be diluted back to 50/50 because antifreeze cools less efficiently than water.
